Praying mantids and feeder insects!

Sale update

Discounts fixed for truncata and ephestiasula for larger quantities.  It should discount properly now.

Choeradodis and illudens have not been listed yet as I have a limited amount and want to list only what makes it to L2.  I will however be adding them to the site so people can add themselves to the wait notification list.

If you want to be one of those people that always seem to get here first when new species arrive, then follow me on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM to be updated on what’s happening in Mantid Kingdom. I often post pictures to announce when ooths hatch.

Big sale coming soon

I have had a LARGE number of nymphs hatch over the past week and half, which means LOTS of time separating, feeding, etc.  Without getting into a long story, my job will be very demanding of my time for the next couple of months.  Soooo…. my plan is to get rid of as many nymphs as possible over the next 2 weeks.  I will be posting several species for sale at discounted rates for multiple quantities, including some that I usually never have sales for such as orchids, truncata, and mendica.  Current list of species I will be listing over the next day or 2 are:

  • Hymenopus coronatus (Malaysian Orchid Mantis)
  • Phyllocrania illudens – much like regular ghosts mantids, but a little larger
  • Pseudocreobotra ocellata (African Flower Mantis)
  • Deroplatys lobata (Dead Leaf Mantis)
  • Deroplatys desiccata (Dead Leaf Mantis)
  • Deroplatys truncata (Dead Leaf Mantis)
  • Eremiaphila sp. (Desert Mantis)
  • Ephestiasula pictipes (Boxer Mantis)
  • SEXED PAIRS of Blepharopsis mendica (Thistle Mantis)
  • Choeradodis sp. – Yes, I will finally sell some.  Only expecting to sell around 25 or so.

Just as with last time, the best pricing will be for the pre-orders, meaning the species that are not ready to ship yet (currently orchids, and all 3 dead leaf species).  I sell these at lower rates because they are still L1 and the wait for them to ship at L2 can be a week or 2.  This really helps me as I can separate out only what has been ordered ahead of time instead of separating a ton of nymphs that may not even get sold (feeding them separately takes waaaay more time).  Please be patient and read the description to know if there will be a wait on your order.  I usually have the estimated shipping date in big bold red letters in the description.

OH, and if you want to be one of those people that always seem to get here first when new species arrive, then follow me on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM to be updated on what’s happening in Mantid Kingdom.  I often post pictures to announce when ooths hatch.

Mantids and scorpions and spiders OH MY!

Yes, you read right.  I am getting into scorpions, and possibly spiders again.  It has been awhile since I’ve kept spiders, and I generally only keep a few scorpions for fun.  However, now I have the space to start building a small collection again.  So, of course that means I will be supplying a few species here and there as I get extras.  For now I have made a few friends of some scorpion and spider breeders who will be helping me get back into the hobby.  I have some Parabuthus transvaalicus available at the moment and will be adding more species as I expand my own collection.

Change in live arrival guarantee

Since I first started shipping mantids I have only given a live arrival guarantee on next day air shipments when temperatures were within the noted acceptable range.  However, I pretty much always replace priority shipments as well.  So, as there really is no point to force people to pay extra for fear the nymphs will not arrive alive, I have changed live arrival guarantee to all shipments that fall within the accepted temperature range. Next day is still the best idea if you prefer the nymphs ASAP or temps fall outside of those ranges.  Cold packs do not last more than a day or so, and heat packs generally for a few days.  I tend to have more issues in hot weather than cold.  So if your temps will be above 90 I still recommend next day, even though most of the time they are still just fine.  I am not as concerned with cold weather.

New nymphs available

Will soon have desiccata, perpulchra, and ocellata nymphs available.  I am also expecting D. truncata and trigonodera dead leaf nymphs to hatch soon.  Several other species available now.  Wahlbergii sold out fast but I just had more hatch.  Will be available in a week or so once they have shed at least once.

Shipping suspended for 1 week

Next week I will only be shipping via Express on Thursday due to the holiday.  I may make some exceptions for those needing something out sooner and OK with the extra time in shipping, but I would not recommend it for live shipments.  Normal shipping will resume on July 9th.

Hope everyone has a happy 4th!
